My favorite elves: Buddy, Hermie and Elf Brew by Silver Moon Brewing! This beer is available in bottles from the brewery, but I wasn’t convinced that would be enough for a fair sample so I picked up a growler this time. The sacrifices I make for a cheesy blog post, jeez! I picked up the growler just before the candle light Christmas Eve service and then prayed that I’d really like it so as not to have to waste it. Prayers were answered – delicious! Elf brew is labeled as a spiced brown porter and goes down somewhat sweet and chocolaty with a hint of spice. Even when having a couple pours it didn’t seem too sweet like a dessert beer. It also kept really well in the growler for a second try on Christmas. I have to admit; when I started this blog series I was not exactly a fan of winter seasonals. Eight brews in and I’m feeling pretty good about my expanded palette and ready for more. Cheers!
