With so many options for outdoor adventure in Bend, how do you choose??
Try a long weekend at Elk Lake Resort!
Located just 25 miles southwest of Bend, Elk Lake Resort is a winter paradise, only accessible by snowcat or snowmobile. Once you arrive at the resort you have access to miles of mountain terrain for snowmobiling, snowshoeing, fat tire biking, cross country skiing or simply playing in the snow. The best part is that you can rent everything right at the lodge! Plus, the lodge offers full dining options and supplies like beer, wine, and snacks.
I (Amanda) recently swung through Elk Lake Resort during the holidays and was amazed by all of the offerings the resort had. Our trip began at Dutchman Flat SnowPark (buy a snow park pass at any outdoor retailer first), and we hopped on the snowcat for our 12-mile journey to the resort. Everyone piled in with their families, dogs, and supplies for the scenic trip up the mountain as snowmobiles whizzed by and cross country skiers steadily made their way. Once we arrived at the resort we checked in to our 2-bedroom cabin that was equipped with a gas fireplace, dining room, living room, bathroom and fully-stocked kitchen with a full-sized fridge, oven, microwave and plenty of pots and pans that we had the best intentions of using. If the lodge wasn’t so amazing we probably would have used them!
During our stay, we snowshoed all around the lake for outstanding Mt. Bachelor and Sisters views, had a fabulous dinner at the lodge, took advantage of the free sleds on the property, hiked up mountains and just relaxed in our cozy cabin. When our mountain adventure was over, we climbed back into the snowcats for our ride back to the snow park and immediately started planning our next stay!
I highly recommend carving out a bit of time to treat yourself at Elk Lake Resort – you can find more information and book your trip here: https://elklakeresort.net/
